Community Support for 2027 Project Scholars and Teachers August 2026

Community Support for 2027 Project Scholars and Teachers August 2026

By Valeria Luukinen, For The West Side Newspaper

SREA is a group of former teachers and community members who wish to honor outstanding graduates each year; in 2027, teachers who support our literacy theme will be honored.

SREA financial support comes from membership, the Scholars' Luncheon, Bunco, auction items, raffle baskets, holiday events, and craft sales. SREA is made up of community educators and non-educators who wish to support our students. We are looking for sustaining members who believe in developing literacy in our Salem-Keizer School District and wish to support our vision to strengthen student development.

You can donate and receive a tax deduction, and as a sustaining donor, you help cover the costs of SREA being a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. SREA hopes to continue supporting our Salem community of learners with literacy as a focal point. We cannot do this alone and look forward to individuals and corporate groups supporting our literacy focus.

We welcome community members, new members, retired teachers, and volunteers, and encourage your involvement. Please contact Val Luukinen, SREA President, at valuukinen@gmail.com

With your support and partnership, we hope to continue with our mission to serve our community. Please join us for our general meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Center 50+, 2615 Portland Road N.E., Salem. Contact SREA President Val Luukinen for details.
